Memorandum of cooperation signed between the Government of Republic of Macedonia and the Government of the United Kingdom

Today, at the Ministry of Information Society and Administration, Minister Damjan Manchevski, representing the Government of Republic of Macedonia and Her Majesty Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Charles Garrett, representing the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.

 

The signing of this Memorandum will initiate the implementation of the project "Modernization and Transformation of Public Administration", whose budged amounts to 248 830 pounds. The project will be implemented by March 2018, with a possibility of extension in the upcoming years.

 

Minister Manchevski expressed his gratitude to Ambassador Gareth for the assistance and expertise provided by the Government of the United Kingdom as especially important for the public administration reform process, emphasizing that the United Kingdom is one of the biggest strategic partners of Macedonia.

 

Ambassador Gareth stressed out that the new project is aimed at improving the public administration operation, whereby transferring the wide British experiences in order to enable a professional civil service that is impartial, open and accountable to the citizens.

 

The main objective of the new project is to support Macedonia in the public administration reform, where the implementation will be carried out in close cooperation with MISA and other relevant institutions. The activities are divided into 4 components, as follows: 1. Strategic planning and annual work plans of the Ministry 2. Human resources management 3. Better Regulation and Regulatory Impact Assessment 4. Open government - that refers to transparency and accountability as one of the main pillars of this government's policies

 

"A team within the Ministry has already been established to work on the project implementation, together with representatives of the Center for Change Management, as well as with representatives of the General Secretariat, an institution that will be a participant in the project activities", said Minister Manchevski.
